Unfortunately, Miner Wars 2081 didn't win ANY awards in the IndieDB IOTY competition. However, the fact that Miner Wars made it to the top 100 shows it's actually getting noticed by quite a few people. As such, I'd like to thank everyone who voted for Miner Wars 2081 - the game couldn't have even qualified without your support!
Also, because I'm not a sore loser, I'd like to congratulate all the winners in the IndieDB IOTY competition, especially the development team behind Minecraft! All of them deserved to win since they're all excellent games (which you really should go online and buy right now *wink, wink*). For the complete list of winners of the IndieDB IOTY, go to

Well it was the first indie Award, so we will have another year to make that impact. But I'm glad we are getting noticed and reviewed from the critical minds of the indie world, those critiques are sometime just what you need to hear.
And I do take my hat off to Minecraft, It's like when you're a kid and instead of playing with your present you play with the box, but the box is digital and colored and may blow up in your face if you don't see it creep up on you.
Thank you to everyone who voted :D

I would just like to say congratulations on getting in the top 100, I only started trying indie games 2 weeks ago and Minecraft (oddly addictive in a good way :) ) was the first one I tried and paid for, which led me to searching for more indie games which led me to this one.
Just paid, got it installed and is currently updating, I can tell from the trailers that I'm going to enjoy playing and look forward to seeing what guys come up with next.

I missed the whole thing but I'm not too fond of these awards anyways. Keep up the development work and when the time comes we will spread the word ;)
Right now I'm still avoiding recommending the game to friends because it's still too early and I don't want to spoil the fun for them. I think when multiplayer is in the game it will be a fun experience and at that point I'll recommend it to people and get them to fly around with me and dig through asteroids ;)
Don't get me started on minecraft though ;P Seeing what crazy amount of money he got and how the game doesn't evolve at all makes me feel weird about indie games. Also the mechanics might be fun but it's way too rough for my taste and the interface is gruesome. Such a pain to really play this game and build something nice looking.
So go MinerWars, don't let it disappoint you. Next year you'll be in a better position to win awards, I'm sure. ;)
