I'm tired of paying for press releases, I thought I bought a game, what do I have to do to get a refund?
From your own page at
http://www.minerwars.com/Products.aspx#MW1_PREORDER:
"The game is not finished yet and many of the features are disabled or not ready at this point! We update the game regularly and the player can use and test new features every week."
"We update the game regularly and the player can use and test new features every week." <--- ???? A week is 7 days...not 7 months.
I paid in good faith based on those words, you have failed to deliver on your promise.

well if you sweated it out for this long, why not wait this last month?

Exactly this. What's the point of suddenly quitting now when you're so close to a big update?

I was giving them the benefit of the doubt, but they still failed to deliver.
Big update?...they could not even deliver little updates every week like they promised.
Look, they created the expectation themselves, they stated on their own page in red lettering:
http://www.minerwars.com/Products.aspx#MW1_PREORDER:
"The game is not finished yet and many of the features are disabled or not ready at this point! We update the game regularly and the player can use and test new features every week."
I only expect they deliver on it, I do not think that out of line. If they now realize they can not deliver on this promise, why do they still have the statement posted? People are buying this game based on this promise, as did I. I think it's bad form not to deliver and continue to bait people using that aforementioned statement.
Now that I answered your question, perhaps you could answer mine, why have they not pushed out the updates they claim to have done to their local copy and why have they not pushed out updates weekly? I'll tell you why I think they have not, because there are probably none to push out.
That being said, I hope someone answers my original question.

Why not? because this is still being developed and thus its still in progress. It's not easy to create content that is useable for game and believe me its even harder to create something worth updating in a matter of week. I agree that this statement should be removed but like it has been said don't quit when finally a big update is almost here with a lot of new great stuff.

Hi damaged,
I am sorry that we were not doing frequent updates in last 6 months.
I explained the reasons somewhere in this forum... but here it is again: we switched from volunteer team to PRO team, we had to hire new developers, office, contracts, and all these transition things.
Plus we have rewritten our rendering engine, in-game editor, networking is also redesigned a lot - so it's a large bunch of changes. We can't do release until it's all settled down at least to a stable version, something that won't be received as a downgrade to last updates.
Good news is that we will definitely make next release before end of this month!

I think that the fact that the CEO of Keen took the time to answer your question directly, that it should give you some faith that there will be an update this month. If I were you I would accept the apology and give them the month before being any more negative. I think that you have a valid complaint, but I feel Marek's response was adequate.

So, I guess the answer to my original question is, 'nothing, no refunds'. I guess I'm left with no other choice than to wait...more...yay. That'll teach me to support pre-alphas and small game companies again.

Don't be such an impatient stoner. Give the guys a break. It's called an ALPHA for a reason: the game isn't completely stable yet, and its always sketchy in the begginning with an alpha game. Have a bit of patience. Remember Minecraft? It was hazy when it first started out, but then it went to alpha, beta, and it's going to release soon. Just have some patience and give these guys a break!

You bought the pre-alpha version of a game, and you're upset that there isn't a lot of content? There is something something wrong here. Very, very wrong.
I'm sorry a small, new, independent game company, of maybe a dozen people, that is building its own engine completely from scratch and finalizing the company part of itself hasn't been able to act like a big-name, well established company that has been around for years, with hundreds of empployees, that uses an engine that has been used a in a hundred other games, that was developed a decade ago, and release a giant update on a regular basis.
Be happy it works. Be happy it's being worked on. Be happy that the CEO himself took the time to answer your little question when he could have ignored it entirely as nothing other than the little, bitty, whinning, gripe it is.

@damaged: Go design your own game, start up your own company, find funding for your game, hire employees, and pump out big updates every week. Do this all yourself, and when you've done that, come back here and complain about something that everyone else seems to be ok with... At least KSH isn't pushing out shit games like EA and Ubisoft.

I'm usually not one to side with the Hivemind, but you knew what to expect when you decided to purchase a title so early in development. I understand your concerns, but nothing ever goes exactly as planned in game development.
This being said, I think the devs should alter the description of their update frequency, as well as list a clear refund policy to avoid confusion on such matters in the future.

At the time I purchased the pre-alpha, I just hoped Keen Software House would be able to finish and publish this very promising game one day, and knowing about their desolate financial situation hoped they would gather enough money to keep going until they found a big publisher willing to invest. I didn't really care about getting new features every day. Actually I had the game rest untouched on my harddisk for months - like a seed in the ground, patiently waiting for it to eventually stick the first, tender shoot out of the ground.
When I put my 10 Euros at stake here, it was kind of venture capital, and if you're investing that way you always know that there is a realistic chance that your investment may be gone.
Now keen has acquired one million Euros, they have a pro developer team, and the way they have announced the upcoming update, I am looking forward to it with quite some excitement.
I am very satisfied with what KSH has achieved so far, and laying a solid foundation is much better than feverishly publishing micro advancements built on shaky ground.
Looks like my humble 10 Euro investment has come a significant step closer to paying off.
Go guys, this is the most innovative game I have seen for a long time!

It seems like bashing the OP is quite popular at the moment. However, nobody has answered his question. A refund policy clarification is in order.

Nobody answered him simply because so far everyone was satisfied with what the devs are doing and thus no one has asked for refund. Seriously, we're 5 days away from a big update, be a little more patient and I'm sure it will pay off.

I was not satisfied, so not everyone was satisfied, therefore your statement is rendered null and void. I think over a half a year of waiting is more than patient (especially when their original agreement was on a scale of days/weeks, not months), and they have been given more than enough chances.
Perhaps you are not a shill, but instead you are easily swayed by pretty words and empty promises of good intentions, but this has not resulted in what was originally promised, game updates weekly for us to enjoy, instead I/we have a useless game with no updates, stories of them spending our money buying steam games and going on vacations, I feel lied to, and scammed, now I have his shills and people I have not directly addressed, insulting and attacking me when I merely want what I was promised and what I paid for.
At this point, it is obvious they are incapable of delivering on their original promises, and I simply want my money back, if they have no refund policy in place, they should state so, I did not ask for an apology, or lip service, I asked for a refund process.
I am not impressed by a CEO title, in fact, if he wanted to impress me, he would have offered me a refund, and this would have been over with weeks ago, like one of you said, it is such a small amount, surely that would mean that a "great, powerful and benevolent" CEO could wrangle together the funds to refund my money, if for nothing, to shut me up, it is irrelevant what the amount is, I work hard for my money and I feel slighted, and highly insulted that my request is being marginalized as if I am the bad guy here.
I no longer care about their so-called big update (they already stated the update adds nothing, but merely adds stability, and polish, meaning, we get nothing of real value for any patience given, and I'll wager something happens which delays its release), this entire experience has soured me on this game, as well as this company, and it cannot possibly ever be good enough that I would have any fun playing it.
The question was obviously intentionally dodged, and speaks volumes about the intentions of this company.
Mr. Rosa, lip service is no service at all.

As others have said, the game is pre-alpha, and you well knew what you were buying when you paid. As also pointed out, if you think they're doing a lousy job, then you start a company and do better if you think you can. Or, learn a skill that could contribute to the game development, send Keen your resume, and show them what that "better job" should look like. Otherwise, stop complaining, zip it, and suck up the fact you agreed to the EULA when you first launched the game.

You spent 10 bucks to support further development of a game that looked promising. Now the guys have managed to acquire serious funds, have a pro dev team, are making real progress, and the alpha is quite a nice tech demo already.
So yes, you didn't get your weekly updates (was it ever realistic to expect that), but you get a game that has a real chance of being realized, and being great.
Yet you are throwing a hissy fit about having been lied to. Yes, regarding the updates you have been lied to, Jonny Blue Eyes. Regarding the good intent of the makers of this game, I mean you haven't, and they have been doing their best to make this game happen.
Jesus Christ, give the guy his 10 bucks back and get rid of him before he is more of a PITA.
