In terms of Expansions, that really depends on how we transform the in-house engine. I'm sure we'll have many pretty neat and game changing expansions that don't rely on a engine upgrade. But in terms of bit, I'd consider that a big change. Perhaps using motherships with multiple users would be rock, and things like that could be major too... ;)

The MMO really depends on how our networking code is modified, we should have some co-op action in the Single player, so depending on the data and limits of that game mode, we'll be able to make strides for different game styles. But big sandbox doesn't sound all too bad for me... the freedom to fly into space aimlessly and decide to change your mind about harvesting ore and troll mr.spacenoob with your emp and then nudge him in a hole or try to tow him away before he starts blasting you with his angry expensive rockets sounds fun...

As to the expansions, as Scuderia said, there is nothing specific planned yet, however, there is 99% chance there will be expansions both for MW 2081 and MW MMO.

We already have lots of ideas what could extend the currently planned final release of MW 2081 and we will see what the feedback of the community would be once we release final version of MW 2081. Anyway, after the initial final release, there would be ongoing support and free updates of course.

I'm a bit confused on the standard edition and the MMO version. Is the standard version single player only? no Co-op or Multi player of any kind? The MMO, will be Multi player with persistent worlds? You build it it stays until some else knocks it down? Did I read one of the pages right? The MMO will not have a subscription fee?As I tinker with the game, I am concerned over the AI. Is that being worked on yet? Or id it still on the back burner? I'm just trying to gauge where you are in the alpha. Not trying to push, Just curious. I am working on a few ships to add to the collection, I would like to contribute to the game.

Currently there dose not seem like there is much to do in game yet. Looks more like a game engine test. It looks good so far, the engine. I find it hard to recommend to friends due to the lack of function. I do see this growing as Minecraft has.... It just need more time in the oven.

couple more questions:

Where are you guys located, geograhicly?

How long has MinerWars been in development?

I know you all are busy with GDC. I can wait for an answer until you are back and rested. I am a new purchaser of the current build, So I have lots of questions. I have dug through the forums, gotten a few answers from some of the Forum folks, but some things still aren't clear to me.

Have a good Conference, Maybe someday I can make it to a GDC. I think it would be a fun trip 8-)

Gridlock, rambling isn't always a bad thing. I read that the mmo will be no subscription fee and will have a 2 yr planned life at the least. Depending on how the game is going will determine what happens after that. I am not sure if you read all that and I can't remember what post had that information in it at the moment. I have to say that the AI in the most recent test release seems very effecient even on easy since they are constantly tearing me apart.

Well, I did notice that the AI dose target and fire. And it takes me out if I'm not careful, But I would like to see it chase and maneuver. So far it seems a bit static, stationary. I'm sure this will change as they focus more on the AI and pathing for it. I'm guessing the lack of movement is due to little or no AI pathing laid out. If your unfamiliar with the term, it means a trail of incentive nodes laid out that encourages the AI to follow it. I'n game editors I have used in the past, it was a series of dots or Apples that you would lay out throughout your level or world that an AI would know to patrol or give it a rail option to run down. I'm Sure there were If and Then statements written in that would say like, " If player is detected within 30 feet of non-obstructed View, Then Leave path and chase player." " If player is killed, Then Move to first visual path node and patrol path." Or if Player is Killed, then Return to Home or Spawn point."

I understand the basics of AI, but when it comes to the actual coding I am lost. I'm a bit better with the modeling. ^^

As for the MMO, that's awesome news! I will have to Order it when we get a bit closer to release. I'm on a fixed income currently, Unemployed. But, No monthly fee sounds great! What would be awesome for Keen Software's cash flow, would be if they set up an item mall. It would contain new Model blocks, Ships and so On. They should set up a system within that store where people who create, Models, sounds and music and allow the maker to post them on the store for item mall currency. Keen Software then could charge an auction house fee per purchase that comes out of the profit that the Creator would make.

This would do 2 things. One, Generate income for Keen software. Two, Those of us who are creatively inclined will get essentially Global recognition for our talents. Perhaps some developer would see the Model, Music, sound we created and ask that person for more. It would help create Jobs. When I say developer, I don't mean just Keen Software, I mean any Dev that comes from out side sources. Other Devs do play more than just their games. Bethesda Software for example, the makes of Skyrim, Played the heck out of Minecraft. I bet if they saw something that really tickled them in the game, they would not have hesitated to contact the creator of that thing and ask for more.

I see great potential for MinerWars. The Model of Indie games will be the future, So long as Bills like SOPA don't get passed.

(sorry for the political statement... That bill just really bothered me.)
